COLETANCHE® XP Bitumen geomembrane
Thickness (mm) | 2.2, 3.2, 3.7, 4.2 mm |
Standard width | 5.1 m |
- Low permeability to water and gases.
- Minimal preparation of the supporting soil.
- High UV resistance
- High mechanical strength (puncture, tensile and nail tearing)
- High surface mass => less susceptible to wind uplift
What is the composition of Coletanche® ES geomembrane?
The ES range consists of 5 layers:
1. Anti-puncture film, resistant to vegetation and rough soils.
2. Bituminous elastomeric binder for waterproofing and protection of the reinforcement against the environment.
3. Glass veil for dimensional stability.
4. Non-woven geotextile, provides tensile strength, tear and puncture resistance.
5. Sand layer to increase resistance to UV radiation and safety of installation personnel.

COLETANCHE® XP Bitumen geomembrane
Thickness (mm) | 2.2, 3.2, 3.7, 4.2 mm |
Standard width | 5.1 m |
- Does not require external geotextile for protection (it already comes with it).
- Allows the placement of concrete and/or protective aggregates without the need of an external geotextile.
- Easy to install in all weather conditions
- Easy to join with other materials (concrete, steel, HDPE)
- Allows wheeled equipment to pass over the membrane during installation and operation of the project.
What is the composition of Coletanche® XP geomembrane?
The XP range consists of 4 layers:
1.Anti-puncture film, resistant to vegetation and rough soils.
2.Bituminous elastomericbinder for waterproofing and protection of the reinforcement against the environment.
3. Non-woven composite geotextile, provides tensile strength, tear and puncture resistance.
4. Sandlayer to increase resistance to UV radiation and safety of installation personnel.

What are bituminous geomembranes used for?
The bituminous geomembrane COLETANCHE® is a leading waterproofing product in civil engineering.
Its high performance and its adaptability to all types of soils have opened up many applications in the fields of environmental protection, hydraulics and transportation.

Solid waste
The use of bituminous geomembrane in solid waste storage ensures effective protection of the environment. It acts as an impermeable lining at the base and slopes of the tank, preventing leachate seepage. In addition, it adapts to the irregularities of the terrain for complete and safe coverage.

Liquid waste
COLETANCHE bituminous geomembrane prevents erosion of structures, infiltration of contaminated water and soil contamination. In addition, it adheres strongly to the soil surface creating an airtight seal that ensures the safe retention of waste. It meets the necessary quality and safety requirements.

Biogas barriers
The bituminous geomembrane is used as a biogas barrier in contaminated sites, preventing gas leaks and water seepage. Its installation is simple and flexible, and it can be adapted to existing terrain and structures. In addition, it withstands constant exposure to biogas and adverse weather conditions without deterioration.

Dams
The bituminous geomembrane prevents water seepage in dams, without the need for geotextiles or geogrids. It offers high resistance to water, chemicals and UV rays. It adapts easily to the surface and avoids water leaks and damage to the dam. NSF ANSI 61 certified for potable water storage.

Tanks and ponds
Bituminous geomembrane is a global sealing solution for hydraulic structures, preventing seepage and leaks, protecting stored liquids and the surrounding environment. Designed to withstand adverse conditions, it ensures extended service life and effective long-term protection as a moisture barrier liner.

Channels
The bituminous geomembrane prevents leaks and guarantees a controlled water flow in irrigation, distribution and navigation canals. Its high strength and flexibility ensure a precise and effective installation, adapting to the canal environment. It avoids erosion, water loss and contamination problems, reducing the need for maintenance and extending service life.

Airports
The use of bituminous geomembrane in airports ensures the safety and performance of runways, creating an impermeable barrier over water-sensitive soils. In addition, this geomembrane has excellent resistance to chemicals used in aviation, minimizing the risk of damage and corrosion to airport infrastructure.

Railroads
The bituminous geomembrane stabilizes soils with deformations in contact with water and prevents the upward movement of fines in the ballast. It provides protection against corrosion and wear, adhering to the existing surface in a continuous and uniform manner. It is durable and contributes to optimum track performance over time.

Roads
A reliable and competitive solution for the construction and rehabilitation of trenches on roads and highways, complying with European legal requirements on water and protecting the quality of water tables. The bituminous geomembrane adapts to soil movements, avoiding cracks and fissures in the road surface, offering greater stability and extending its useful life.
